Term 1

The childcare 1st term has ended on 13 March 2009 and we just got back Xinru’s progress report book from the childcare together with some of her art and craft.

During the first term, Xinru did the following art and craft.

1. A mask

2. A photo frame

3. A face

4. A Fan

5. A heart paste with crepe paper 6. A Fish

7. A Shirt

1. Language and Literacy
Competent: 14
Need Help: 1 (Able to identify Letter A to J)
*i did notice that she does not really know how to recognize individual letters but to date, she is able to recognize most of the letters after adding letter chart and repeating going through with her as and when we see letters*

2. Numeracy
Competent: 7
Need Help: 1 (knowing the value of 3 and 4)
*Although she knows how to count but she will always mix up with the number 3 and 4*

3. Environmental Awareness
Competent: 8
Not Yet: 1 (Be aware of why some people need to wear spectacles)

4. Aesthetics and Creativity
Competent: 8
Not Yet: 0

5. Motor Skills Development
Competent: 7
Not Yet: 1 (Ability to catch a big ball in a stationary position)


6. Self and Social Awareness
Competent: 11
Not Yet: 0

Some of the worksheet done and this time round when i got back all the stuff, Xinru actually tell me one page by one page what the teacher has instructed them to do.. :)

~Colouring of a girl~

~Colouring the type of uniform that she wears~

Xinru told me that the teacher ask the children to colour what kind of uniform they wore and she told me that there is one boy who colour the girl's uniform instead of the boy's uniform.

~Colouring the correct item~

When i asked her how come she did not colour the cup, she told me that the teacher got them to colour the item that should be together with the bed.

~Knowing what does a dog eat~Suddenly remember she has been asking me why do dogs eat bones?? :P

~Colouring the kind of pet~Xinru told me that she like the fish also but teacher say can only chose one to be their pet, so she chose the rabbit... :)

~Correct behaviour~

Xinru told me that the teacher ask them to colour the correct behaviour and she chose this cause she says that we should share things and not fight.

~Joining up the dash line~~

~Matching the correct face~

~Putting the correct shape of item to the correct shape~

~Circle the same object~

~Counting and colouring~Teacher mentioned that after Xinru coloured one happy face, she went to colour the other one and when she realise that she has coloured extra, she stopped.

~Understanding what should be in the schoolbag~

When i asked Xinru how come she did not coloured the carrot and she tell me that 'We cannot put carrot into the schoolbag mah...'

And finally lead teacher’s comment:
English Teacher

· Child strength: Xinru is very helpful girl with good self help and social skills. She demonstrates independence in given tasks.
· Child weakness: Xinru can build up her vocabulary to help her progress further.

Chinese Teacher
· Child Strength: Xinru is good in both language and always co-operate with the teacher during lessons. She has strong understanding power and well develop in all aspect.
· Child Weakness: Xinru can be playful at times during lesson. Hope she can control herself. Jia You.

Term 2 will starts on 23 March 2009 and we were being informed that she will be moving over to the Childcare centre next door, instead of staying at the Infant Centre and that the Playgroup class will be split into 2 classes. The reason the management gave is so that the kids can concentrate better when a class is smaller. Both her teachers will remain. :)
