Lynn's birthday

Last Saturday Lynn celebrated her 21st birthday in advance at Aranda Country Club. It was another kind of gathering for all the cousins again... And of course, Xinru was excited cause kids are always excited over birthday celebration as there were will birthday cake and candles... hehe..

Reminded Xinru to take her nap first before we actually proceed to the chalet in the late afternoon. She napped around 230pm and woke up 2 hrs later and waited patiently to go out. After getting Alex's call, i changed her and we waited for his second call before we went down.

Upon reaching the chalet, hubby and me brought Xinru to the foodcourt for her dinner first cause last week she was not feeling well and she is still having her running nose and cough. This is the longest running nose and cough ever. Phoooo....

She was excited going to the rides near the entrance rather then going over to the birthday party. She told us that she wants to take both the rides and we told her that we will only go after the dinner. She did not make any noise and we went for dinner. She ate almost all of her rice and we kept our promise and went over for the rides. She was happy... I would say she is rather a happy child since she was born.

After taking the rides, we went over to the chalet and most of them were there already. We had our BBQ food and chit chat and waited for the cake cutting session. Xinru was well entertained by my cousin's wife and the rest of the guys.

The cake cutting session came, following by the photo taking session and we sang the birthday songs and shortly around 10plus, Xinru asked to go home and we left shortly....

Alex drove us back after the party and lucky Xinru did not KO in the car... upon reaching home, i got her changed and put her to lalaland... :)

Term 1

The childcare 1st term has ended on 13 March 2009 and we just got back Xinru’s progress report book from the childcare together with some of her art and craft.

During the first term, Xinru did the following art and craft.

*i did notice that she does not really know how to recognize individual letters but to date, she is able to recognize most of the letters after adding letter chart and repeating going through with her as and when we see letters*

Need Help: 1 (knowing the value of 3 and 4)
*Although she knows how to count but she will always mix up with the number 3 and 4*

3. Environmental Awareness
Competent: 8
Not Yet: 1 (Be aware of why some people need to wear spectacles)

Some of the worksheet done and this time round when i got back all the stuff, Xinru actually tell me one page by one page what the teacher has instructed them to do.. :)

~Colouring of a girl~

~Colouring the type of uniform that she wears~

Xinru told me that the teacher ask the children to colour what kind of uniform they wore and she told me that there is one boy who colour the girl's uniform instead of the boy's uniform.

~Colouring the correct item~

When i asked her how come she did not colour the cup, she told me that the teacher got them to colour the item that should be together with the bed.

~Knowing what does a dog eat~Suddenly remember she has been asking me why do dogs eat bones?? :P

~Colouring the kind of pet~Xinru told me that she like the fish also but teacher say can only chose one to be their pet, so she chose the rabbit... :)

~Correct behaviour~

Xinru told me that the teacher ask them to colour the correct behaviour and she chose this cause she says that we should share things and not fight.

~Counting and colouring~Teacher mentioned that after Xinru coloured one happy face, she went to colour the other one and when she realise that she has coloured extra, she stopped.

When i asked Xinru how come she did not coloured the carrot and she tell me that 'We cannot put carrot into the schoolbag mah...'

And finally lead teacher’s comment:
English Teacher

· Child strength: Xinru is very helpful girl with good self help and social skills. She demonstrates independence in given tasks.
· Child weakness: Xinru can build up her vocabulary to help her progress further.

Chinese Teacher
· Child Strength: Xinru is good in both language and always co-operate with the teacher during lessons. She has strong understanding power and well develop in all aspect.
· Child Weakness: Xinru can be playful at times during lesson. Hope she can control herself. Jia You.

Term 2 will starts on 23 March 2009 and we were being informed that she will be moving over to the Childcare centre next door, instead of staying at the Infant Centre and that the Playgroup class will be split into 2 classes. The reason the management gave is so that the kids can concentrate better when a class is smaller. Both her teachers will remain. :)

Dinner session

Last night after fetching Xinru from Childcare, i brought her to Compass Point to meet Serena Jie and Sis for dinner. We have decided to go to Soup Restaurant for dinner and the 2 of them went in for a place first. When we reached, i went over to the salon with Xinru to cut the tail. We waited for quite some time and after i had the tail trim away, Mary ask if Xinru wants to trim her fringe. Xinru shake her head and smile to her. Then i ask if she wants to trim a little and she smile and Mary go ahead to trim her fringe. As usual, she stood there, closing her eyes to her her trim. After the salon, we went up meet the girls.

We had our food and decided to get Lynn's birthday card. Xinru was running infront of me and i decided to play a little trick on her... The 3 of us went into the shop and Xinru was infront of us.. When she turned back, she started looking for me... while looking at her searching for me, i felt that she look so funny... but she was calm although there was quite a crowd.

She goes:

*walking back to where she last saw me standing* Mummy......

*putting her hands on her side of her mouth* Woohooo Mummy......

*standing and turning her head in a serious tone* Mummy, where are you?

i cant help but laugh at her when she was looking for me but when she saw me, her face bleam with smile and she walk towards me. Then i start askin her 'Were you afraid when you turn around and cannot see Mummy?' She nodded her head and her face looked a bit those kind of scare that she cannot see me. At that moment, i felt my eyes a bit sour sour feeling. I think at that moment, i feel a bit of sad when i saw that reaction of hers and at the same time i felt bad cause i knew that she will be scare of not able to see me but yet i am playing a trick on her. But at least she learn that she should not run about without us by her side. :)
What surprise me is that she did not cry or start running around looking for me, instead she was calm. Good job Baby!!

After getting the card, I brought Xinru to get the '长江七号' that '七仔'. Somehow
after watching the movie, she kind of like like that character and she has been eyeing on it for months liao... Looking at her behaviour for the past few weeks, she does deserve some rewards. :)

When we were in the lift going back home, a lady was with us in the lift and she asked me how old is Xinru and when i told her she is 3, she replied me saying that her son is 3 years old too but he still don't know how to see numbers. What was my reaction? I just told her 'Oh.. is it?' and we reached our floor already. When i reach home, i told mom and ask her how should i reply... hahaha Mom told me 'You should just tell her that its ok... teach him lor...' haha i was thinking that my reply was kind of rude cause normally i will react like talkin to a friend but last night i think i am just too tired to talk... :P

We finally reached home around 930pm and quickly get her to bath and put her to bed.

Sweetie oh Sweetie

My little sweetie just melted my heart... i remember there was a day when i ask her during dinner time...

Me: Xinru... if you have money, what would you buy for Mummy?

Xinru: Hmmmm i will buy you flowers...

Me: Why flowers?

Xinru: Cause daddy did not buy flowers for you lor...

Me: *heart melts* then i ask her again.. And what will you buy for Daddy then?

Xinru: I will buy daddy a bicycle...

Me: hmmm why bicycle leh?

Xinru: Cause daddy's bicycle got stolen mah... so i buy bicycle for him lor....
*hubby smile at the back* hehehe

Just now when Xinru and me were having dinner, she asked me to feed her... As today i did not take lunch so was kind of hungry... but i though of feeding her first else later the food will be cold... Who knows, my hand start to shiver... and i ask her to see... She asked me how come my hand like that and i told her 'Mummy did not eat in the afternoon, now very hungry...' Immediately, she tell me 'Mummy, put down my bowl. Xinru eat myself... Mummy eat with Xinru together....' and she ate her food on her own neatly... :)

These words touched my heart...... She is just so sensible and have me in her mind.... :P

Singapore River Cruiseon

Hubby and me brought Xinru down to Clarke Quay for a bummerboat ride on 21 Feb 2009. It was an enjoyable evening on the boat under a breezy weather... :)
