Disney Princess Pageant 2011 by SK Jewellery

There was once i received a newsletter from Mother & Baby on the search of Disney Princess and i went to submit an entry since Xinru just went for the Coverlook Photo Shooting and has some nice pictures...

This is the 2nd so-called contest which i have send in since she was young. The first one was BayB Supplier website which she was the winner for one of the month and the other one was Disney Princess Pageant. I am quite selective in the contest that she is participating, cause for those that goes by voting is kind of like depending on the parent's popularity to get the votes. I would prefer those that has judges... Its not that i am not popular... haha but i prefer more professional judging. For Disney Pageant, 50% of the results comes from voting... so i have to 'sell' the link out to all my friends and relatives to support her to secure her in the Top 10.

I sent in the entry just for fun and did not expect any response. But on 29 August 2011, i received an email from the Mediacorp informing me that Xinru was being shortlisted into Top 20 and that i have to bring her down to Mediacorp for a mini photoshooting.

On 1 Sept 2011, i went to pick Xinru early that day from school and took a cab down to Mediacorp since her schedule time slot is 1230pm. When we reached there, she was asked to go in for the shoot already. I think she felt uneasy as she is facing 2 person whom she never seem before. So the lady suggested to let another girl take the shoot first then Xinru were go in again. Of course the 2nd shoot was a lot better as per what was comment by the photographer.

I have been checking my emails on any follow up after the photoshooting but i never see any email. Till 23 Sept 2011, i got a watsapp msg from my buddy.. She watsapp me the page of the contestants. I was surprise of course... and we were on our way to buy newspaper so at the same time we bought a copy of Mother & Baby October issue.

It's Mooncake Festival again!!! Time files.... One year has passed... :)

This year's Mid Autumn Festival, Xinru did a Angry Bird Lantern to participate in the Lantern Making Event in the school.. It's a yearly event where all parents will assist the kid to do up a lantern and there will be a show and tell during the lesson on how they do the lantern.. :)

As promise, I told Xinru that we will bring her down to the playground to play lantern and firecracker after dinner... Of course, she was excited and happy... Earlier in the morning call me again to confirm.... Lol...

We reached home around 8pm... Hubby told her that we will go down after a short rest... 15mins later, we went down... W went over to the BBQ pit there as it was darker... We play with some candles and firecracker for about 45 mins... Angry Bird is really on the trend... Everywhere I go, I saw kids holding Angry Bird battery operated lanterns if not those that need candles to light up kind... Gosh... All the birds... Hehe

Before going back home, told her that she can go and play at the playground for a while before proceeding home.. She was happy of course and enjoyed herself thru the night...

Disney Live Musical Performance

Xinru has earlier on requested to watch the performance of Disney Performance when she saw the ads on the TV. As it was held in Marina Bay Sand, I do not have confidence in the seating arrangement so end up I got 3 tickets of average pricing tickets form the 11 Sept 2011 @ 11am.

We were quite in a rush when going there and when we reached, although we were in time... But Xinru and me were sweating and so tired of walking so much.... When we went into the hall, and to our seats, I am so glad that I got the right ticket... The seats were just nice, slightly higher than the front rows, and there was no blockage in front of us... Cool....

Throughout the performance, the kids were all so excited and happy... All cheering out to Mickey and friends, Mermaid Ariel, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine and Toys Story character... Both me and hubby enjoyed ourselves throughout the show...

Overall, the show was fantasic.... Great opening to the show and great finale to end the performance... It's definitely worth watching... And mot importantly

Performance at Tampines Regional Library

Xinru's first performance was held at Tampines Regional Library on the 9 Sept 2011. She was involved in 3 segment... PHONICS, Chinese Dance and Speech & Drama of which, Phonics and Speech & Drama was from the enrichment classes. I guess the purpose of the performance was to present to the parents what the kids has being learning during the enrichment classes.

We reached there around 145pm, and the performance started on time... All the kids did a good job... At their age like 3 to 6 years old, we can't expect 100% perfect performance... But they all did their best... Some younger kids were so excited to see their parents on among the audience and start calling mummy and doing funny things which makes us all laugh.. All the parents had a great time watching them.

Xinru did a good job too... Can see that she is putting in effort to perform what she has been taught... Kudos baby!!!! From the performance, I feel that kids in K1 are more fun loving.. Maybe because for the K2, they are more grown up.. So u dun see them running around with the friends and do funny things and for the younger children, they will be sticking to their parents... The kids in K1 went around taking photos and playing... I love to see the friendship between them... So pure and fun...

After the performance ended, we went for a short lunch as Xinru was hungry.. After that we proceed to Ikea to source for Xinru's cabinet... And we managed to get a 3 tier drawer chest for her to put her folded clothings. We also bought a book shelf kind of shelving to be in the living room for dip laying for photos purpose... And also a standing chalk cum marker board for my little artist... Hehe...

She was dead tired by the time she reaches home and she slept quite early that night...

7 Sept 2011

My little chatterbox has been making so much of the unnecessary noise for the past few days... It's quite irritating but I just told her that she is very noisy but she did not take it to heart and goes on... Faint.... But I realized that lately she is like rather happy....

This is morning i had to bring her to school earlier cause I am having stock take at 730am and hubby is not around... Got her to wake up around 630am... She was tired and laze for a while... But shortly, she woke up and we get ready for school... On our way there, we were chit chatting and she told me that she had a dream.... She dreamt that i gave birth to a baby girl... And that when she told the teachers that she wants to visit me, her teacher told her that I am going back soon. So I ask her "does the baby looks like you?". She smile shyly and replied me that "yes... The eyes looks like me". So I ask her again " Then did u sayang her and love her?". She smile and say yes....

The Smurfs

Promised Xinru that I will be her for movies when The Smurfs is screening...

We decided to go today for the show... I have booked the tickets earlier online to watch at GV Bishan... Xinru was excited.... She earlier on asked me to buy her the Smurf soft toys... Well, she has been behaving well... And her Spelling and 听写 was doing well... So I rewarded her...

When we left for the show, she happily took her Dorami bag and put her 'Clumsy' and 'Smurfette' into the bag and off we went for dinner at Bishan then to movie... Thru the movie, she hugged the 2 soft toys.. :)

The movies was good... Full if laughter from both the kids and adults.... and glad that Xinru enjoyed the movie....

Going to movie is definitely a good bonding for us as after the movies, we tend to talk and laugh at the same thing... :)

OMG

OMG... In a blink of eyes, this blog has gone 'silence' for more than a year....

Well, during this 1 year plus, lots of things happened... Too many things to list and mentioned... So it's better to focus on on-going things...

Xinru has grown up... She is like a little pretty young lady... Attending art lesson at Anchorvale CC since end May 2011... Enjoying every lesson with the rest of the kids... Bringing back beautiful pictures drawn, colored and painted by her... Glad that she enjoyed her lessons...

Last Tuesday, I received a email from Mediacorp, asking me to bring her down for a mini photoshoot on 1 Sept 2011 for the Disney Princess Pageant... When we were there, shortly we were brought into the room where the photographer was there. Initially she was a bit stiff.. The lady who brought us in told me to let her watch the next girl then let her try again... So the next girl's turn and shortly it was Xinru's turn again... This time round she was more of herself... More relaxed and the photographer told the lady that 'she is good' and the lady told me they find her good... About an hour lately, we left... Whether a not she was selected will depends on the organizer and Mediacorp... I feel that getting into the next round is not the main purpose... I feel it's a good exposure for her to see the world outside and leave her some memorable memories.... :)

Moving towards 9th Sept, Xinru will be performing with her friends at Tampines Regional Library... Parents are invited to attend... Am looking forward to her first performance...
