Preparation for Xinru's 4th birthday!!!

Time flies fast and Xinru is turning 4 in just another 8 days.. This time of the year will always be busy for me due to preparation of Chinese New Year, Penang Trip and Xinru's birthday....

Xinru has decided that she wants a Dora with Boots Theme for this year's party. Boy... this is tough because till date, i am not able to see any cake shop that has Dora's cake. But luckily, manged to find an online bakery to do the job.

This year, her layout of the cake will be slightly different... It will consists of a 1kg cake and 26 cupcakes. As for the goodies bag, i have also separated the boys and girls's present. Dora for a boy seems a bit girly, so for the boys, they will get the Ben10 stationary set while the girls get the Dora's stationary set. This is another tough case.. but luckily with the help from one of my colleague, Fiona, she managed to get for me the Dora's stationary set while i got the Ben10 from Ebay. The loot bag is another challenge, but luckily i manged to find on Ebay as well... Phew.....

Trial for Ballet

Today is the ballet trial lesson. We reached Anchorvale Community Centre at 915am sharp but due to not sure where is the centre, we reached the centre around 925-930am. The lesson has started and there were also another parent with her 2 girls who are dressed in ballet attire. After hearing what the mummy say to the lady, i came to realise that the attire was from the girl's cousin.

When we enter the dance room, we saw so many little ballerina. They all look so pretty and sweet. We were allowed to stay and watch while Xinru joins the class. She appear a little shy when we went in but followed her teacher to join in to the lesson.

Initially when Xinru was following the teacher's movement, she will turned and look at us after a few times, she starts to enjoy the lesson herself, following the teacher's and the rest of the little girl's movement and was laughing along with the children.

The lesson lasted about 45mins and when the lesson end, we went to the counter and spoke to the lady and confirmed with Xinru that she wants to take up the lesson. She was very happy and can see that she has enjoyed. To my surprise, when she started to get warmed up in the class, she mingle well with some of the little girls there...

We made a payment of $63.15 for the 5 lesson till the end of the term in March, $20 registration fees and another $99.50 for the attire that includes the tights, shoe, leotard and tutu. Basically is everything in.

After we reached home, Xinru asked to go for Ballet again and we told her that her official lesson will starts on 21 Feb 2010. :)

She has her wish comes true...

Xinru has been telling me that she is keen in Ballet.... and has been dancing a few steps at home for me to see. Well, all along i thought the child has to be at least 4yrs old to join the class. So we intended to source when she is 4yrs old.

Last week, i managed to secure a trial lesson at Anchorvale Community Centre under Dance Pointe on this coming Sunday, 31 Jan 2010 and if she is okie then her official lesson will starts on 21 Feb 2010. Each term is 3 months and consist of 11 lesson, with each lesson of 45mins.

I have inform her beforehand that me and hubby will not be able to join her in the class but will wait for her outside the class. Initially she hesitated, but after that she agree on that.

Hopefully she will enjoy the lesson... :)

Xinru's little cousin finally arrived on 18 Jan 2010.... Sharing the same date of birth as his daddy and mummy....

Xinru is indeed very anxious to see her little cousin.. The day when we told her that we might be bringing her but due to some last minute changes, she was upset. Finally on the day when they were discharged, we brought her over to see Kayden and she was very happy.

When it comes to bedtime @ night

Sigh... This notti little Xinru has been driving me crazy at times when it comes to bed time.... She will keep wanting to sneak out to the living room to find her daddy... If not then will keep wanting to watch television.....

Last nite was another nightmare....

After returning home from Compasspoint for dinner, i got her to bath and she started her pattern... wanting to run around the house and not goin to the bathroom. Finally when she is in the bathroom, she started another pattern, wanting daddy to bath her. Managed to bath her and get her out of the bathroom.

After all that, as usual, we watch a episode of the drama, after that, she asked for 1 more. I am firmed nowadays as in not to give in. Sometimes, she will be a good girl, off the television and lie down on the bed.. at times, she will start to ask for another episode..... She started her fussy when i switch off the television. She went out to complain to her daddy. Daddy is on my side, so she ask for daddy to sleep in and the next thing is, she refused to sleep in her bed and wanting to go over granny's room to sleep.

She started crying for granny outside her room.... i was angry, get her mattress and bolster and place it outside the room. I was surprised with hubby... he tell her a few times to come in when she insisted in sleeping outside, hubby actually closed the door and off the room's light. Shocked!!!

Heard Xinru crying endlessly outside till granny open her door and coax her. Finally she is in the room and wanted granny to be in the room. I got mom to leave the room and she started her crying again... She is super cranky last night though.... I told her off and she went on and on....

Finally after 20-25 mins, she soothed down and slept with us on the bed.....faints..... there were a few times when such things happen.. but not as cranky as last night......

Officially moving up to Nursery

Xinru has been officially promoted to Nursery on 4 Jan 2010. Some changes from her past years in the childcare will be

1. No more milk intake in the school
2. Computer lessons
3. Phonics Lessons
4. Reading Programme

Wooo.. nowadays children are so poor thing... at the age of 4 years old, she has got so many to learn.... Education Level in Singapore is getting higher... They no longer have chance to be like when i was young, play and tv programme are all that we do.... I feel the stress for the kids nowadays.. Somehow, i still stand firm that at the young age, there should be childhood especially for those who are attending childcare and few hours lesson kind of activities. Imagine when the time that they are in the childcare, they are asked to be in lesson and when they are back, come on... give them a break.....

Somehow, i am not over anxious on Xinru, instead is my hubby is the one who keep telling her to watch lesser tv programme and play lesser toys and do writing.... Faint..... i can't stand it, its not that i am lazy to teach her... Everytime when he tells her that this and that, i will tell him that don't keep stressing on her.... She still has long way of learning to go.....

On the other hand, i don't mean that she need not have some learning activities at home.. Normally Xinru will automatically take her book out to practice her writing and do her own activities without the need to keep nagging her. This is the good thing about her, she is keen in learning and she learns things fast and i hope that she will maintain this attitude for her future.

Xinru has requested to take up ballet and has been talking about it, at the same time, she seems interested in keyboard too... I don't really like her to take up so much activities cause there must be time for play so will see how she cope in her Nursery and decide whether to let her take up the extra lessons...

Last night when she came back home, i ask her about her school and the way she mention, she seems normal about it. When i ask her about is there anyone drinking milk, she tell me one of her friend cause her teacher says that he is too skinny already.... Other than that, she also mention that she has got 1 new Malay friend who joined their class.
